THIS TRANSFORMATIVE, 3-WEEK, OUTDOOR COURSE FOCUSES ON EXPERIENTIAL AND APPLICABLE SCIENTIFIC FIELD RESEARCH METHODS  

Instruction is delivered with active, inquiry-based activities incorporating observation & data collection, small working groups, lecture, focused exploration & spectacular off-site ecosystem trips. Students create and implement an original field research project to culminate the class. We base-camp in an incredible mountain location and hike & explore daily with a diverse peer group of inspired learners.

LOCATION SUMMARY

Cal-Wood Education Center is a private, non-profit organization located on 1,200 acres in the foothills of the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains. It is located approximately 40 miles northwest of Denver & 15 miles northwest of Boulder. This spectacular learning center lies at an elevation of 7,500-8,000 feet & contains miles of trails & vast tracts of montane forest, lush meadows, ponds, streams, & abundant wildlife. This course is based out of Cal-Wood’s secluded & spacious Solitude Camp & we utilize the main Cal-Wood lodge for hot showers, wifi, laundry & emergencies. Visit www.calwood.org for more info.
